Adult Education Project

AEP - Adult Education Project - DBLPP - DBL Alumni

Past Pupils inspired by their motto came up with a noble idea of going for an Adult literary drive in the local area. The basic idea was to make them at least read and write and to make these deprived and under privileged people feel that there is someone who really feels for them. The inaugural class of Adult Education Project was held on 22nd April’1991 with 35 students and since then it has grown gradually. At present we have more than 110 students on roll. Its popularity can be gauged from the large turnout we have for admission.

This is now a two-year course for girls above 14 years of age, wherein they are imparted basic education viz. English, Hindi, Mathematics and General Knowledge, moral values, practical knowledge viz. knitting, stitching, drawing and painting. The Don Bosco Technical School, Liluah, conducts the third year course. Exams are conducted thrice a year apart from 3 Unit Tests. Text Books and Stationery are distributed to them free of cost. Enough opportunities are given to bring out the hidden talent in them. They actively participate in Teachers' Day, Rector & Parents Day, Annual Sports Day and Children’s Day FETE. The enthusiasm shown by the student’s it-self depicted a dream come true for them. From time to time, free health check up camps is also organized. At present a Free Medical Facility is being provided to these students, the expenses of which is solely borne by our association.

They are also taken out on picnic and educational tours. Special classes to bring awareness regarding health, hygiene, moral values etc. are conducted. The suggestions from the students are considered and implemented. The results of the students are very satisfying and encouraging. For admission - pamphlets are distributed in the local area. Local Municipal Councilors are also contacted and requested to look for girls who are of age of 14 years and above, and are deprived of studies. To encourage good results 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranked students are rewarded. Farewell party and gifts are given to the final year students. Students with good attendance are also awarded, so as to encourage them to attend classes regularly.
